I have 6 beautiful cats: Jasper, Boo, Castiel, Jon Bon Jovi, Libby, and Barry Allen.
I rescued Jasper when he was a kitten and he quickly became the typical aloof and stuck-up stereotype cat. However, he is affectionate and cuddly when he wants treats... which is often.
Boo has a unique story. After one of my cats passed away, I was working in a pet store that was holding an adoption event. Everyone was interested in the kittens and completely overlooked this old, massive orange tabby with giant teeth. I did not. I opened his cage and he immediately walked onto my lap and crawled up my neck to hug me... I was sold.
I adopted Castiel with my first ever paycheck. I was walking through an adoption event at PetSmart and a little white paw poked out from a cage and slapped me in the face. I turned to see this white kitten with blue eyes trying to grab at me. I took him out of his cage and he nuzzled into my neck and I knew I didn't have to look any further... the whole ordeal took me less than 10 minutes.
Jon Bon Jovi... what a fitting name. I adopted Jovi after seeing his picture on a pet sanctuary's website. I applied to adopt him and got a call back within 24 hours! We like to joke about his behaviour, but this cat is neurologically challenged. He moves like somebody has shocked him and he's not graceful at all. However, Jovi is my cat soulmate. I have never bonded with a cat the way I have with him. He is so affectionate and loving towards me, he cuddles with me and nobody else, and he is the only cat that consistently arrives in my vicinity when my mood is down.
I found Libby in the middle of the country one day, all fluff and fleas. She was about 5 weeks old and was a feral cat wandering the fields near a friend's house. I kept trying to put her back near the barn she was clearly living in, but she kept trying to come back to me. Alas, she became the newest addition to the household.
The last cat we have is Barry Allen. He is nothing like the other cats... he's completely naked! My mother has always like hairless cats and she found Barry on a breeder's website and knew he was the one for her! He lives up to his name as the fastest man alive, but when he slows down he is super affectionate and needy. He brightens everyone's day!

How do they affect my life?
You never realize how much cats calm you down until they're lying on your chest mid-anxiety attack and purring. Petting them is an immediate stress-reliever and there is something about a cat's love that is incredibly satisfying. Most dogs love everyone and their love is instant. However, a cat has to CHOOSE to love you and show you affection, which makes it that much more enjoyable when they do! I love my dogs, but I am definitely a cat person at heart. I mean, can you blame me?
